Why Vacation Feels Easy (and What Changes When You Come Home)

Personal·Brigid Tebaldi·Jul 29, 2025· 2 minutes

Have you ever gone on vacation and felt like a completely different person?

You rest. You slow down. You breathe deeper. You’re more present with your kids. Your body softens. Your thoughts quiet. You feel good.

And then you come home. *cue the ominous music... dun dun dun*

And everything changes.

Suddenly, you’re snapping at your kids. You feel behind before the day even starts. You’re overwhelmed, anxious, and exhausted again. You wonder:
"Was that peace even real?"

I recorded a new podcast episode all about this because what I’ve found in myself and in the women I work with is that the problem isn’t your home. It’s the way your nervous system has learned to operate in it.

On vacation, your body finally gets a chance to shift out of survival mode. You step into a space that feels safe, slow, and free of the pressures you carry daily.

But at home? The pace, the pressure, the roles, the expectations, the unspoken energy in your environment it all cues your system to “brace.” You go back into fight-or-flight, and your body believes peace isn’t allowed here.

But what if we could change that?

In this episode, I talk about how to bring that same sense of ease and openness into your real life. Not through wishful thinking but by understanding what your body needs to feel safe again.

If this resonates... I want to invite you somewhere sacred.

On August 2, I’m hosting a beautiful in-person event at our family farm called Restoring Her. It’s an intimate, prayerful, embodied experience for the woman who is ready to let go of survival mode and reclaim the peace she thought she could only find on vacation.

Would LOVE to see you there!
