Birth Is a Doorway. What Did You Let In?

coaching·Brigid Tebaldi·May 21, 2025· 3 minutes

Birth is a threshold.

It’s the moment when heaven touches earth, when a woman is cracked open—body, mind, and soul—and something new enters the world.

But it’s not just a baby that comes through that doorway.

Something else crosses that threshold too.

And what comes through depends on what we allow in.

The Vulnerability of Birth

Whether your birth was empowering or deeply painful, whether it went “according to plan” or felt completely out of control, one thing is certain:

You were open.

Raw. Exposed. Powerful in your surrender.

In that sacred openness, the spiritual realm is very close. We often think about the physical risks of birth, the emotional toll, the mental intensity, but birth is deeply spiritual, too.

If we’re not intentional, birth can become a space where trauma takes root. Fear takes over. Pain settles in. The enemy uses that openness to whisper lies into our hearts:

  • "You failed."

  • "You weren’t strong enough."

  • "You’ll never recover."

  • "This broke you."

Those lies? They don't always show up right away. They creep in over time, disguised as shame, disconnect, anxiety, or resentment.

Remember that the devil hates you.

There’s Another Way.

Because birth isn’t just a place where fear can enter. It can also be a doorway to grace.

God doesn’t miss your labor. He doesn’t miss your cries. He doesn’t need you to have a perfect birth—He wants to be invited into it.

He’s not distant. He’s not indifferent. He’s present.

Even if you didn’t feel Him then…Even if it felt dark or lonely or like it all went wrong…He can go back through that doorway with you now.

What Would Change if You Revisited Birth With Jesus?

What if you could return to that moment, spiritually, and ask:

  • What came through the doorway when I gave birth?

  • Did fear settle in? Or peace?

  • Did I let the enemy plant lies? Or did I let grace flood in?

You don’t need to stay stuck in a story that feels broken.

Your story is not over. Healing is available. Jesus and Mary want to walk with you back through that doorway.

This is exactly the kind of restoration we explore in my program, Restored by Grace - a 12-week journey to heal from birth trauma, reconnect with your body, and experience motherhood the way God intended: whole, peaceful, and full of love.

💛 And if this message spoke to you, I invite you to listen to my latest podcast episode: Birth Is a Doorway: What Did You Let In? In it, I talk about how trauma sneaks into the sacred space of birth and how we can reclaim it for good.

You are not broken. You are not alone. There is still so much beauty waiting for you on the other side.
