Grief doesn’t just arrive when someone we love dies. It shows up in all kinds of losses: dreams unfulfilled, health that changes, seasons of life that end before we’re ready.
In my recent conversation with JoBeth Evans, we explored the many faces of grief and the way God meets us in it. JoBeth’s story is one of beauty born out of brokenness. She knows firsthand the ache of unfulfilled longing. Walking through infertility, then finding joy in adoption, only to lose her husband to brain cancer.
What struck me most in our conversation was JoBeth’s ability to hold both deep sorrow and deep hope. She’s not simply “strong” in the way the world often demands; she’s rooted in grace. Now, as a certified grief recovery specialist, she guides others through their own valleys, helping them move forward without letting go of the love or memories that shaped them.
We talked about:
-
How grief isn’t something to “get over,” but to walk through with intention and faith.
-
The spiritual lies we’re tempted to believe in our pain and how God’s truth brings freedom.
-
Why rushing the process can leave wounds unhealed.
-
Practical ways to support someone who’s grieving.
JoBeth’s story is a reminder that the God who allows suffering is also the God who redeems it. When we lean into Him, grief doesn’t have to be the end of our story, but it can become a place where His glory is revealed.
